Wet towel time

Thank you for reading my blog. If you have difficulty seeing your grandchildren, or have any views about my situation, I would welcome your messages by e-mail through this blog site. If you wish, just use a first name or a nickname and your identity will be protected, like mine – “Grandad Kit.”

Dear “Tom

Wet towel time

You are now four years old. I am your other grandfather, the one you have just met, but only the once. At the moment, it looks highly unlikely that we will ever see you again, but whatever happens please believe that I love you dearly and always will. You are my flesh and blood, and always will be. We will meet again one day, I am sure. I am writing this daily "blog" to you to make up for the fact that I can't speak to you right now. I hope that one day you will be able to read this.

Only a few more days to go, and Grandad stil has lots and lots to do to finihs his book (you'll really like this book - it'll have lots and lots of pictures in it, and later on when you can read there will be lots of interesting stories - and places you can visit! So - I did warn you some time ago - it's now "wet towel" time. That is, the time when the onyl way I can keep on working is to wrap a wet towel round my head. I don't actually do that, but I feel like it.

Nana Ann has ben up this weeken, putting the house (and Grandad) to rights. Sh'e supposed to be taking a rest, but in fact when she's at home she works harder than when she's at work. So I let her lie in in the morings, and I wait for an hour or so before she gets he cup of tea in bed. Then she says "is that the time? I'll have to get up." But at least she gets a decent night's sleep and proper meals which you know I love to cook for her (but I don't do ironing so I'm no saint).

verybody's growing up - you are four years old now and your cousin Elaine is fifteen! Chances are there'll be another big gap before we see you again, but I am sure that we will meet up again. Then there'll be lots for you to tell me and lots for me to tell you. I've been having adventures all round the country and I love to think that you will too before you are much older. But thet depends. Not everybody's cut out to go running around like Grandad.

When my book is finished in a few day's time, I'll write you a last letter - last for the time being, that is - and then move on to other things. But we ill never forget you and we will always think about you every single day of our lives. Meanwhile,, you never know, ther might be a miracke and your Mam might get in touch.

Love from

Grandad Kit and Nana Ann

well all this talk of giving up the blog ~ lord only knows what "anne" and i will do now. i shall really miss reading all about you and nana ann and "tom" and i really do hope that things get better for all of us in the future and whatever, one day our grandchildren will have minds of their own and decide for themselves whether our so called "crimes" have fit the punishment!!!!

and by the way mary poppins was chim, chiminee, chim chiminee, not chim chiminea, chim chiminea although i must admit there is more than a passing resemblance. not sure whether dick van dyke would have got his tongue around it though.

all my very best wishes to you, nana ann, and also to "anne",
sue
take care
Sue - as with Anne, many thanks for your interest and sympathy - much appreciated.

Dear Haether
Thank you very much for your kind comments. I'm not so sure I am as nice as you think I am (ask my first wife!) but I do like to think that I am optimistic about life and like to make the best of everything.
